New sophisticated restaurant opens in Dallas

On July 7, Brentwood replaced Houston to serve clients and guests with great sophistication and executive atmosphere and design according to a Dallas Morning News article from July 6. They say, 

“This restaurant location is an icon of Dallas dining,” says the restaurant group’s CEO and founder Hunter Pond, in a statement. Brentwood still has the dark-wood walls and split-level dining in the bar and in the sun room, but the whole room is airier, with more banquettes — the ideal setting for power lunches and date-night dinners.

Brentwood is the newest brand from parent company Vandelay Hospitality. None of its concepts stray too far from home. There’s Hudson House, Vandelay’s most well-known and prolific brand; East Hampton Sandwich Co., Pond’s original restaurant; Drake’s Hollywood, the Park Cities adjacent steakhouse; Lucky’s Chicken, the growing hot chicken spot; and D.L. Mack’s, another American restaurant.”

But Brentwood is not just all about great designs or noble and sophisticated atmosphere as it will also bring a different level of menu to Dallas according to a CultureMap Dallas article from July 6. They say,

“Entrees and sandwiches include three kinds of burgers:

  • The Classic, with L-T-O-P, American, mustard & mayo
  • Hickory with cheddar, crispy onions, jalapeños & barbecue sauce
  • Vegetable, a brown rice veggie burger with white cheddar & miso aioli

Salads include Cisco’s salad with rotisserie chicken, and a wedge with iceberg, blue cheese dressing, and a little extra: slices of New York strip.

Desserts include a glossy chocolate silk pie and wild berry cobbler, both baked in an on-site bakery.

The bar will feature cocktails, beer, and a thorough wine list. Keeping with Vandelay’s reputation for martinis, Brentwood’s staple selections include the Espresso Martini, with top shelf vodka and almond espresso; and the 50/50 Martini, with gin, vodka, and Lillet.”

Vandelay Hospitality Group’s Brentwood is the sixth concept ever since 2012—VHG’s founding year.

Jake’s Burgers Branch in Uptown Dallas Closed

Jake’s in Uptown Dallas closed down because a high-rise will be built in the land it’s located according to a The Dallas Morning News article . They say, “After 18 years, Jake’s Burgers & Beer on McKinney Avenue in Uptown Dallas has closed. It was one of the most profitable and most iconic Jake’s restaurants in North Texas, says Kendra Shier, vice president of operations and marketing.  The 1.14-acre plot of land where Jake’s resided will be turned into a 19-story tower with nearly 300 residences and 60,000 square feet of office space. “It wasn’t our choice to leave,” reads part of the note posted on the door.” Their new location will be built in Addison in September according to a post they have made in their Facebook page. They say, “Yes, it’s true that our Uptown location will shutter this Sunday after lunch because the landlord is building a new high rise in our spot  – but we are opening our new location in Addison in September and WE WILL BE BACK in Uptown soon!...
