White Rock Farmers Market

Local favorite, White Rock Local Market, will be relocating to another location in White Rock United Methodist Church after failing to get another renewal of contract according to a Dallas Morning News article from March 23. They say,  “The White Rock Local Market reopens this week to bring local produce and goods to the people of East Dallas, but it won’t be in the Garland Road parking lot it’s been in for the last decade. The farmers market will open March 26 in the parking lot of White Rock United Methodist Church in the Little Forest Hills neighborhood, a stone’s throw from where it used to operate at Lake Pointe Church. Casey Cutler, executive director of Good Local Markets, says ideally the market would still be along Garland Road for visibility purposes, but their contract was not renewed by Lake Pointe Church, and they couldn’t find another location along the busy road.” What makes the farmer’s market particularly special is not just their products that they produce th...

Frisco’s Texas Pinball Festival

COVID-19 has canceled the 2020 and 2021 festival but pinball gained pace as a lot of people bought pinball machines during the lockdown, making it possible for a successful comeback according to an Audacy article from March 26. They say,  “The Texas Pinball Festival is back in Frisco this weekend after a two-year break. The event was canceled in 2020 and 2021 because of concerns about COVID-19. “It was incredibly disappointing both times,” festival organizer Paul McKinney said. “We’re elated to be back.” While pinball may not be as popular as it was in the 1960s and 1970s, McKinney said there has been a surge of interest in the past few years as people stuck at home looked for new entertainment options. “They didn’t have a place to go, so they spent their money fixing up the house and building out game rooms,” he said. “There was already kind of a surge in people purchasing pinball machines for themselves back when COVID hit and things slowed down, but it actually kind of pick...

Luka Doncic Meets Make-A-Wish Teenager

Before Luka Doncic and the Mavericks went head to head against the Utah Jazz, Doncic made some time to meet a 16 year old Frisco Teenager Callum Stewart from Make-A-Wish according to a Dallas Morning News article from March 27. They say, “Callum knew that Luka Doncic was coming. After all, it was part of Callum’s request, through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, as a big Mavericks fan. It was just last December that Callum was diagnosed with lymphoma, but Callum’s request was categorized as a rush wish. Knowing that Doncic was coming, however, didn’t lessen the awe and delight on the faces of Callum and his parents, Neil and Julia, when Doncic entered the small waiting area and warmly greeted Callum. “I didn’t know it was going to be such a big deal,” an emotional Julia said, looking around the court. “It’s kind of taking my breath away.” However, it wasn’t just Luka who was able to meet Callum Stewart as the Mavericks team themselves took some time after the game to spend time with St...

While some prefer the lesser known restaurants, it’s one that has lasted over 30 years in the metroplex that many call their favorite. Now, that restaurant has announced they are opening their first location in Frisco, spreading their range even further across North Texas.
